QuestionHard to kick start. Easier to kick when warmed up. Just rebuilt motor. Did a leak down test and rechecked timing. Also did a spark test that is good. Any ideas?

I believe these engine have an auto-decompression
unit on the exhaust valve.

You should hear it click if you turn the
engine over slowly by hand.
If you don't hear it, then it is stuck or
not working.
It will be very hard to kickstart if the
auto-decompressor is not working.
You will probably have to remove the top
engine cover to check it out.
Some people think the exhaust valve is held open
too long by this device and grind it down slightly
to lessen the duration it is opening the exhaust valve.
