Motorcycle Repair: Random Stalling, 1987 1200 Goldwing, bill silver, goldwingfacts

I just acquired this bike and it randomly stalls (complete loss of spark) then picks back up again on a whim. I have seen some posts that may refer to coils or regulator.  Any opinion on the most likely culprit and why?
