Motorcycle Repair: engine paint color, aluminum paint, engine paint

I'm restoring a '67 Honda CL160, Silver and Black. On many of the picture I've seen, the engine side covers appear to be very similar in color to the tank, fender, etc.

My engine covers are in rather sad shape, color wise, after all these years so it's difficult to get a good color representation. Was this color a silver gray? Was it a metallic color? Thanks

Ed, the kickstarter and clutch covers were painted a kind of flat silver aluminum. We used to paint them with Krylon Dull Aluminum paint. There are some new Dupli-color hi-temp engine paint at auto parts stores now that has a similar color style.
