Motorcycle Repair: sporster tranny, through bolt, motorcycle repair

QUESTION: on a 72 ironhead the bolt that is directly under the square oilcan i took it out to put a elec starter on then when i put it back i heard a pop noise then my kicker wont move any advise would be very helpful

ANSWER: You will have to give me a little more info. I am not sure of what bolt you are refering to. If you can try to take and pic of it or describe its location a little better

ANSWER: Is that bolt going through the rear motor mount? What does it look like its holding down?

That bolt should be a through bolt into the case. It is not close to the kickstarter so it shouldnt have anything to do with it. I would pull the primary cover and you can see the kickstarter and then you can see what is binding it.
