Motorcycle Repair: turn signal bracket, new signal, nighthawk
QuestionJeff- I read your profile and specialty and I am hoping you can answer this request. I do have a nighthawk, but it is a (US) 1984 650. One of my rubber turn signal extensions cracked and I am trying to replace. I have disconnected the existing rubber piece from headlight assembly, taken off blinker cover and removed bulb, but I cannot get the actual socket part (that holds the bulb) out of the broken rubber part. I am afraid to break it and cause a bigger issue than what I have. Any suggestions? Again- I apologize for the model and year (as it is different from what you state you will address), but I am a neophyte and am hoping that there is not a lot of difference from model to model relative to this repair.
Thanks-
Jeff
AnswerHi Jeff,
Those rubber signal extensions are prone to cracking and breaking, aren't they?
I had a signal in the same shape as the one you are describing. I ended up having to purchase a new signal and rubber extension.
I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but in my case, I just didn't want to fight with the signal.
