Motorcycle Repair: Pulse Generator, honda cb700sc, honda vt750c

Question
I have a 1984 honda shadow vt700c and my pulse generator went bad.
I found a used one for a 1984 Honda CB700SC Nighthawk.The pulse generator looks the same and I was woundering if it will work on my shadow?

Hi Jason,

I took a look at the fiche for the cb700sc and the vt700c and they do look similar. However, they have different part numbers. I would say its not going to work.

The Pulse Gen for the cb700sc only fits the 1984 model (they went to a new design for the 85's and 86's).

The Pulse Gen for the vt700c fits the following models:
1983 Honda VT750C SHADOW
1984 Honda VT700C SHADOW   
1985 Honda VT700C SHADOW
