Motorcycle Repair: Stator plug, harley davidson motorcycle, bikebandit com

Although I am asking about a 2000 Harley Road King, I suspect my question will apply to most motorcycles.  What is a stator plug; where is it located; what is its function; why is it so expensive to replace?

Gordon, I went here: http://www.bikebandit.com/harley-davidson-motorcycle-fxstb-2000/o/m1512   but I don't know which part of the alphabet pertains to your particular bike, so I just chose one for reference.

Check the alternator/regulator illustration. Looks pretty simple to me, if what you are describing is what I see there...  Maybe they are selling you a whole stator, not just the plug connectors.

That's all I can share with you on a non-Honda question.... shop it around to other shops to see if that quote is reasonable.
