Motorcycle Repair: 2008 Yamaha VMax, hex screws, yamaha

Question
How do you remove the battery?  I've remove the hex screws one from each side of the seat and it had no effect on being able to remove the seat.  I've also removed the intake cover, still nothing.  Per the manual, removing the hex screws was suppose to facilitate removing the seat to get at the battery. Help, please.

Honestly, I would have to go to a shop and look at one of these to figure this out... you said per the manual..... do you have a service manual ?
If not buy one, it will tell you what you need to knoe.
If you don't want to pay the dough for the service manual then look, no, really look at where the battery is.... you will see how it comes out, just feel it and out it will come.
