Motorcycle Repair: 84 honda shadow 500, vacuum leaks, honda shadow

I have a 84 honda shadow.  It idles fine but when I touch the throttle it stalls immediately.  Does the 84 have a fuel filter?  If so where is it located?  I have checked and changed the spark plugs and checked for vacuum leaks.  Any suggestions.

Maria, there is a fuel filter or screen.  It's inside the petcock.  You have to take the bottom bowl off the petcock, and there's a screen up inside the petcock. There is probably an o-ring holding it up inside so you'll have to remove the o-ring before the scree will come out.
