Motorcycle Repair: 83 VF750 Sabrer, honda sabre, thread pitch

I am wondering what size (23mm?) petcock a Honda Sabre takes. I can't find it in the manual. I have a vacuum operated petcock that is not working and i want to replace it with a univesal type. My tank has a male threaded portion that the fuel petcock hooks to. I don't want to get the wrong one and risk stripping the threads.

Sorry, Brian but I have no idea and my manual doesn't give any indication.  The only thing I could suggest is measure the diameter with ruler or caliper.  If you count the number of threads in a centimeter and divide by ten you'll determine the thread pitch.  Pitch is defined in threads per millimeter.
