Motorcycle Repair: 1985 Goldwing 1200 Limited Ignition control, volt ohm meter, goldwing 1200

QUESTION: I can't get the plug wire to fire, how do I check the electronic ignition on the Limited?  They say it is different than the non-limited in that it doesn't have the CDI like the other Goldwings have.

ANSWER: Cecil , my experience is on pre-82 Hondas.  I've not had that much exposure to the electronic ignitions.

Cecil, I had a similar question after you asked me so I did a little research.  It turns out the pulse units can be checked with a volt ohm meter.  The resistance between the wires should be 480 ohms  plus or minus 10%.  If those are good, the only thing left is the ignition module.  I found the information in my 84 shadow manual but I'm betting your bike will be similar.
