Motorcycle Repair: placement of kickstart return spring?, crank case, sorry shawn

I have a 85 xr350 and cannot figure out where the return spring goes back into the previous one broke off and the manual I have does not give pictures!please help w/ detail!

Sorry Shawn, but my experience is with pre-82 Honda.  It may just use the crank case housing to stop it.  Take a close look around where the old spring was and you should see some witness marks where the end of the spring was rubbing on the crankcase.
