Motorcycle Repair: transmission, splined shaft, shift linkage

I have a 1996 zx600e ninja it jumps out of 2nd gear in hard revs it goes in to neutral. any help would be appreciated

Make sure the shift linkage is not binding on anything, and the little arm that slides onto the splined shaft is not stalled to close to the engine case.  That is the easy stuff.  If the bike has fallen on that side then that splined shaft (it controls the ratcket pawl) could be pushed in or pulled out.  After this it is an internal gear issue.
