Motorcycle Repair: Honda carb slide needles, rear cylinders, jet sizes
QuestionHi Rich
VF750S, V4, Sabre, 1982
I inadvertently got my carb slides mixed up and don't know whether the thinner, richer, needles go in the front carbs or the rear ones. Can you direct me?
Thanks.
AnswerI can tell you that the rear cylinders had smaller main jets 120 vs. 122 but I've checked my manuals and the Honda parts books and I can't find a reference to which needle jets go in the front and rear carbs. They are different needles according to the parts book but it doesn't say which is which. I event checked a set of VF1100 carbs and although they have different main jet sizes the needles jets are the same.
Sorry but I can't be of much help. If it were me, I'd put the fatter needles in the carbs with the smaller jets since Honda wanted the rear cylinders to be leaner , according to the main jet sizes.
