Motorcycle Repair: Changing gas tanks and ignition switch, gas tanks, best bet

I've got a 92 FXSTS and I want to change the tank to a sporster tank. I was wondering if you had any tips about switching the tanks out and either relocating or replacing the  ignition switch.

If you change to a sportster tank you will have to fabricate some mounts for it. You would have to test fit it for the mounts.
As to the switch, you can locate it anywhere that will be conveniant for you to get to. Your best bet is to locate it  to the side of the tank, like on the current sportsters
