Motorcycle Repair: drum brakes yamaha xt225, drum brakes, brake shoes

my rear brake is out, i tried replacing the shoes but they are not worn (1400 miles). there is no tension when using the foot brake. tried tightening the manual tension adjuster.... no change. yamaha xt225  2005

is the brake pedal hitting something?
Sometimes they get hit or bent
and it stops the pedal from moving.

Check that the lever on the brake
drum has not slipped or stripped
the spline on the brake shaft.
Check the threads on the brake rod.

It is a pretty straight forward setup.
The brake pedal pulls the rod and
the rod pulls the lever. The brake
shaft turns inside the hub and
applies the brake shoes.

Also check that the drum is not
cracked where the brake shoes
do their work.
