QuestionQUESTION: My speedo and mile counter will not function,turn signal cancel failed at same time,It worked on again off again for a while now nothing at all.
I cleaned the speedo sensor it had some fine shavings on it but this did not clear up the problem
I cleaned the two point connection from the regulator as that had been a problem in the past, not fully connected and battery would drain down,as well this was when I first noticed the speedo and odo would fluctuate and then drop off completly until battery was fully charged. This little problem with the connection went on for some time until I discovered the connection was not fully engaged.
I suspect the problem is the speedometer and was wondering if there is any way to test it?

ANSWER: The only way to test it is to take it in and have a dianostic run on it. Your are not going to have to equipment to do this

QUESTION: Have you run into this problem before? Besides testing the speedometer is there anything else I can do to try to resolve the problem? The harley dealer said there is no way of testing the speedometer?

AnswerYou can test the speedo with a speedo tester part #Hd-41354. In order to test the senser you have to have a test harness for the senser. If they cant do it they I would start by replacing the senser first, since it cost the least amount. If its still not working then either the speedo is bad or you have a shorted wire goiing to the speedo
