Motorcycle Repair: front shock, harley shop, brake calibers
QuestionI have a 02 electra glide 22000 miles. I have found oil on my front tire and on the floor. I first thought it was my front brake leaking. Now I think it is my shock. Is this a do it myself or refinance the house and go to my local harley shop.If I do this do I need an special tools. I do have a lot of tools and can use them. The leak seems to be more oil after a extra cold night.
AnswerSounds like your fork seal is leaking and needs replaced. In order the replace the seal you will have to remove the front tire, brake calibers, fender and lower fork assemblys. it does take a special too to install the seal, but that is the only special tool you will need. If you are going to tackle this job yourself, I suggest you get a service manual. In it you will find the steps and pics on how to do the work
Good luck and happy riding
