QuestionHow do I remove the carberators from this bike so they can be rebuilt? Also were can I find a new drive belt or should I just convert it to chain drive?
AnswerJames,
Finding parts is not my speciality,
mainly technical repair questions.
You can try bikebandit.com or CMSNL.com
for various parts info.
-Chain drive conversion may cost about the
same as a belt unless you can find a used
belt at a motorcycle wrecker.
New belts are quite pricey.
-the carbs come off as a pair, do not separate
them. You will have to open the seat and remove
the gas tank, it may or may not have a mounting
bracket screw. Carefully pull the gas lines
off and pull the tank up at the rear to remove it.
-Under the seat is the air cleaner box,
you will want to loosen the mounting screws and
possibly remove it or get it a bit loose.
-The rubber tubes on the carbs have clamps that
will have to be loosened and the throttle cables need
to come off.
-The carbs should pull back and out whichever
side is easiest. Warming the rubber tubes
may help a bit or maybe something slippery like
"Armour-All" spray.
