Questionmy sons lt80 suzuki 4wheeler feels like the auto trans. is slipping. i changed the oil in the trans. and it still slips or at least that is what it feels like. any suggestions on what to check for would be appreciated
AnswerJohn,
-you didn't mention what year it is but
most of these bikes have a drive belt
that could be worn. Other possible
problems are worn or dirty clutch parts.
-The sheaves may be stiff and need attention
so they can slide easily. Most likely
slippage is caused by the 3 clutch
shoes in the rear clutch assembly.
-They spin out against spring pressure
with the centrifugal force as RPM's rise.
-Check these clutch shoes and springs
and the hub that it grabs onto.
Likely this is the problem and/or
the belt.
