QuestionI own a 1997 Honda Goldwing. The fuel gauge reads 3/4 to full all the time. Gauge will drop to empty when key is turned off, but will always move back to 3/4 to full mark. What should I look for to make repairs
Rodger
AnswerRodger,
-Some older Goldwings had a 7 volt regulator
that failed and caused the fuel and temperature
gauges to act up at the same time. If only
the fuel gauge is reading wrong I suspect
the fuel tank sending unit.
-It is on the left side of the fuel tank
and should read about 4-10 ohms when full
and about 90-100 ohms when empty.
The wires are yellow/white and green/black.
-you will have to drain the fuel if you
are going to remove it.
-check the connectors and wires for bad connections.
