Motorcycle Repair: Rod Knock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 1996 kawasaki zx9r, cam chain

 I ahev a 1996 Kawasaki ZX9R that has devloped what sounds like a slight rod knock.  I am very mechanically inclined and would like to know if this is a repair I should take on or should i let a pro handle it?  I would like to know where to start, is a book a good idea, and other things like that.  I appreciate any help you might be able to give me.

This is more than likely a slapping sound from a loose cam chain, i would try a tensioner first, then go with a new chain if its not cured with the tensioner..

This should help you, a rod knock is not likely unless youve hit beyond redline for a length of time with no oil...
