Motorcycle Repair: RE: Clutch wont engage, yamaha roadstar, friction discs

I have a 2001 Yamaha Roadstar that has been in storage for about 3 months. Charged battery, started it up today, and went to take off, and the clutch won't engage. No problems in the last 3 1/2 years. Any ideas?

Hi Rob,

Sounds to me like the friction discs could be froze together, however usually the clutch won't disenguage when this happens. possible broken cable or slave cylinder not pumped up or frozen..
I would check those things 1st before taking it somewhere..
