QuestionI own a 1999 1100 Honda Shadow Spirit. The healight will not come on. It used to go off intermittently, but now does not come on at all. I changed the harness assembly which holds the horn button, turn signal switch and low/ high beam switch. All wiring appears to be fine.
AnswerManny, you worked on the wrong switch, unfortunately. The starter button doubles as the ON circuit for the headlight. Button IN, headlight off and starter motor engaged. Button OUT, starter circuit opens up and headlight resumes function. The switches often collapse internally, causing the failure of one or both functions.
Do check all fuses, wiring connections, including grounds, but that is the usual place of failure on most newer Hondas.
