Motorcycle Repair: 1984 fxr poping through exhaust, shotgun sound, fxrs

Hi Mike,,I have a 1984 fxrs with a 1340 evo.. as i accelerate, the bike will sometimes pop through the exhaust(shotgun sound) the longer i ride, the popping is more and more and  the bike will then shut off(no electrical at  all) then it will start back  up on its own as i keep rolling..   could you please help??

Sounds like you have a short in the main wiring. Start by checking the battery posts at both ends. Then follow the wire to the ignition switch. Look for bare wires or loose connections. You also might have a bad ignition switch or a bad breaker
