QuestionMy Shadow pops during deceleration and while idling at intersections. Any ideas
for a solution to this problem?
AnswerHi Wayne,
Deaceleration backfiring is caused by the air-fuel mixtures leaning out as engine speeds decrease and the throttle closes.
Other common causes are:
Worn, varnished, or defective air cut-off diaphragms on the carburetors.
Improperly tuned air-fuel mixtures in general (jetting).
Worn or defective carbs.
Carburetor synchronization out of service limits.
Vacuum leaks.
Defective ignition system.
Weak or defective battery or charging system.
Cylinder head/valve problems.
I suspect your carbs need cleaned, tuned, and synchronized.
