Motorcycle Repair: 1982 fxwg, overflow tube, gas leaks

I bought my wideglide last year and need to bring in for an inspection. When the gas petcock is open, the gas leaks out from the overflow. The carberator is a 40mm mikuni. I imagine the floats need adjusting, but I can't find a schematic on this carb. Can it be adjusted easily, or do I have to remove the carb? The #s on the side are T40   6P. Can I pinch the overflow tube to bring it to the shop? It leaks pretty quickly.  Thanks in advance.  "R"

Hi Robert, The carb should be removed to set the float correctly. Please don't pinch the overflow hose, for all this will do is send that fuel straight to the cylinders and flood the motor. Try tapping the carb float bowl with a soft mallet, this may seat the float enough to get it in to the shop ?
