Motorcycle Repair: Speedometer Cable, speedometer cable, bikebandit com
QuestionHi Mark.
The speedometer cable came loose from the bottom hub by the front wheel.. When I replaced the cable the speedo still would not work. It looks like some kind of fluid needs to be put back in. If so, what type of oil needs to be used and how do you put back in.
Thanks for your help,
Mike
AnswerHi Mike,
I don't know what brand and model you're referring to, but there's no oil involved in the speedometer/cable other than a periodic cable lubrication.
Cable ends are formed square and mate with square drives. The usual causes for a non-working speedo as described is the cable end into the meter is not properly aligned, or the cable end into the hub assy. is not properly aligned.
If the wheel was removed, check hub positioning.
