Motorcycle Repair: exhaust, suzuki savage, intake exhaust

i have a 1996 suzuki savage. i am redoing the bike , i am wanting to do a straightpipe exhaust. will this hurt my motor or is there something i can do to make this work such as carb work (this is a single cyl bike) thanks for your help

Hi David,

You can modify the exhaust, but the fuel-air mixtures (carburetor jetting) will need to be corrected.

Carburetor tuning is needed when changes are made to the air intake, exhaust, carburetors, and somteitmes when other engine parts are installed.
