Motorcycle Repair: tranny shifting, pontiac grand am, auto zone

 mitch,
         89 pontiac grand am 3 speed automatic 2.5litre.
   car will not shift into third without letting off throttle, then getting back into throttle then it shifts
into third. other gears good. i have been driving like
this for 2 years now so im assuming it cant be too serious
but it is annoying. any suggestions.

gary there, are shift solenoids on the tranny , spometimes they do act up , also you may want to check the filter , you can also bring it to a dealership they can put it on comp and and tell you if you have a serious problem. also auto-zone reads codes for free it may be under that system of codes. im here if you need more help ok.
