Motorcycle Repair: 1980 Shovelhead, shovelhead motor, best bet

I own a 2003 custom softail with a 1980 shovelhead motor and recently it has started cutting out and dieing.  When I try to restart it the battery is dead.  I have worked on it plenty but I dont have any general information over the motor.  Is there anyway you could email me information over the 80 shovelhead motor?  I just want a break down of the settings and just specific components of this motor.  Thanks

Your best bet is to get a service manual for your motor and it will give you all the info you are looking for.
It sounds like your battery is not charging. Hook a volt meter to the battery and start the bike. At 2000RPM you should be getting around 13.5 volts
