QuestionAll connections are clean and secure. The battery showed 11.5V. After charging the bike started but an output test never got above 12V. I assume this indicates a bad generator or regulator/rectifier. What do you suggest?

I have a 99 yamaha R1 which lost power to the instrument panel while being ridden. When I pulled the bike off the road to inspect, it stopped running and would not start again. I was able to roll start it and go a short distance, but it stalled at the next stop and could not be started. Previous to this I had noticed the instrument panel blinking on and off while riding if the brakes were applied or the headlight switched hi/lo or lo/hi. I had the battery load tested by dealer and it was not at fault.
Answer -
Hi Josh,
Has the fairing been removed lately?
I suspect an electrical connector is loose or otherwise defective and causing the problem.
Check all connectors that you can find for clean, tight connections.
If the problem persists, the engine control module (CDI) may be the source.
