Motorcycle Repair: Gas petcock on virago 500, virago 500, bikebandit com

I am looking for a fix or new petcock for a 83 virago 500, or is there a way to unhook all the vacumn stuff and run straight to the carbs?

Hi Jim,

The vacuum system can be converted to a gravity system, though I don't recommend doing it.

The petcock is designed to prevent fuel from overfilling the float bowls, deliver ample supply of fuel on demand, and prevent fuel from entering airbox and crankcase.
