Motorcycle Repair: charging system, yamaha xs 400, charging system

I have bought a 1980 yamaha xs 400 cc. Bike runs great but the battery doesnt charge. I have replaced the regulator, battery and the stat. I am showing 10 volts coming out of the chargeing system. Im out of ideas please help thanks. Email is [email protected]

Hi Robert,

If all charging system components test ok or they are within service limits, look for defects in conductors and connectors.

Ensure all electrical connections, connectors, and fasteners are clean and tightly fastened/connected.
