QuestionI just bought my first Goldwing and want to check the engine oil level and add oil or change the oil if needed...
I have had a 1982 Silverwing and the engine oil cap (black plastic) and "dipstick" is on the left side of the engine...
I just bought a 1983 Goldwing Aspencade (GL1100)
When I looked over the Goldwing's engine I see a similar looking cap (metal) on the right side of the engine. to the rear of the engine and near the drive shaft... and more or less above the clutch linkage arm... taking the cap off,,, I see some gear(s) or something and no oil though the internal gears and housing appear oiled... I am thinking this is the transmission...
Where do I find the engine oil fill location and "dip stick" if it has one... and how do I confirm the engines oil level is right?
I am concerned with driving my new bike without confirming the oil is at the right level etc...
Thanks for your time,
Greg
I am going to buy a repair manual

Notice the black circle between the rear brake lever pad and the exhasust pipes? This is the oil level peep window.

Again, just above and behid the brake pedal. Notice the black oval peep site displayed here.
The oil filler cap is above and left of the pedal.
There may be a slotted screw in the center of the peep window. This is a wiper to keep the peep window clear. Rotate the screw if the window view becomes obstructed.
Place the GL on it's center stand on level ground. View the oil level via the peep window. Maintain oil level between the upper and lower marks beside the window.
If marks are not present, allow a small bubble to be visible in the peep window (add oil until about 3/4 to 7/8 of the peep window is occupied with oil.
Respectfully,
Mark Shively
