Motorcycle Repair: pw 50 hard to start, set screws, pw 50
QuestionI have a pw 50 that was running fine, but did not idle very well. I tried adjusting the 2 set screws on the carb and now i have big problems. I can not get it to start and if it does it only runs for a few seconds and dies. How do i adjust the set screws on the carb and I also changed the spark plug but i am not sure of the gap?
I would be grateful for any help
AnswerHi Steve,
In the future, always count and record the number of turns out that a carburetor screw is set prior to making any tuning changes.
Try setting both screws at 2 turns out and tune from there. Very gently seat the screws and then count turns-out.
I recommend that you obtain a copy of the service manual.
Remove and inspect the spark plug. Clean or replace accordingly. Set the gap at 0.030" as a start.
