Motorcycle Repair: top end job, piston slap, turn around time

i got a 77 shovel 1200.  i have a fast rattle/knocking sound coming from top end, but you can only hear it loud on decelleration.  can t hear anything when it s idling or revving it up...has to be under load. what do you think and how much does your shop charge for top end overhaul and what s included?   what s the turn-around time? thanks  gil

The cost for a top end job is $450.00 labor. Its tough to sayhow much the parts will cost until I saw what needs to be replaced, but probably around $400.00 or less. Usually takes about 2 weeks.
Without hearing it its tough to say what the rattle is, but its might be either piston slap, lifter or a rocker.
