Motorcycle Repair: Starting, kawasaki kz 1000, starter motor
QuestionChris,
1982 KAWASAKI KZ 1000. I PUSH THE AUTOMATIC START BUTTON AND NOTHING HAPPENS. I THINK THAT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT I CANT GET A "NEUTRAL" LIGHT. ARE THEY TIED TOGETHER OR COULD IT BE SOMETHING ELSE? by the way the bike has been sitting for a while and just had the carbs rebuilt
THANKS SO MUCH
AnswerHi Ed.
The bike must be in neutral for it to start. Or the clutch should be engaged. In some cases, it must be both. If the neutral switch is bad, then you would have this issue, but you could also have other problems as well with the starter motor circuit.
Check all of those things and see what you find.
Good luck and ride safe.
