Motorcycle Repair: NO SPARK 97 TRX300EX FOURTRAX, electrical diagnosis, troubleshooting sections

THE BIKE RAN AT AN IDLE, BUT WHEN I INCREASED THE THROTTLE IT WOULD BACK FIRE, AND REALLY RUN ROUGH. AND EVENTUALLY STALL. IT DID THAT A FEW TIMES, BUT NOW I HAVE NOTHING. ALTHOUGH, IT CRANKS LIKE A BITCH, BUT NO SPARK! ANY SUGGESTIONS, I WAS THINKING ABOUT CHANGING THE CDI, BUT FIGURED I SHOULD ASK BEFORE INVESTING. PLEASE HELP...BILL

Hi Bill,

The CDI/ECM may be defective or other problems may be present. In any case, confirm a part is defective before replacing it.

Get a copy of the service manual. Read electrical troubleshooting sections and perform electrical diagnosis.
