Motorcycle Repair: 1970s Honda ct 90 trail bike, copper head gasket, torque chart
QuestionI was just wondering if you knew the torque specs. on the head bolts for the 1970's Honda ct 90 trail bike? It's a CT90E if that helps at all.
Answerhttp://www.dansmc.com/torque_chart.htm
I don't recall if they have 6mm or 8mm studs. Use around 5-6 ft lbs for 6mm and 12 ft lbs for 8mm studs/nuts.
I can do them by feel, but if you don't have the "feeling" of tight bolts then use a torque wrench. Use a cross pattern, starting at about half the specified torque and increase a little at a time. It isn't all that critical on the 90s due to the copper head gasket ring. Just needs to be equal on all 4 corners.
