QuestionMike...1996 DYNA original owner..10000 miles...runs rough and harsh feeling when warmed-up...local independent shop replaced intake and carb gaskets and problem still remained...after taking home,I srayed carb cleaner around to check, and find the engine stalls when spray hits head gaskets on both cyls.,intake and carb work appear ok,before taking
to area H-D shop,is this something that can be torqued down,or should head gaskets be removed, heads examined and gaskets replaced.?THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS and ADVICE...DAC
AnswerFirst, you cannot retorque head gaskets. As to the rough running, if you had a leak, when you sprayed carb cleaner it would suck it in the make the RPMs go up, so I dont think that is your problem. Also, if you had a head gasket leak you would hear it.
Remove the spark plugs and let me know what color they are.
Also, test the coil. If you need to know how let me know. You will need an OHM meter to test it.
