Motorcycle Repair: 1998 Shadow Spirit 1100 jetting and valve adjustment, fuel mileage, rear cylinder
QuestionI have drag pipes on my bike and was wondering your thoughts on rejetting with dynojet kit.I was told my bike has a 175 front and 180 rear jets and I see that that dynojet has a kit for better engine cooling.the front carb seems to be running lean.Eddie
AnswerHi Eddie,
In my experience, jet kits get the air-fuel mixtures in the ballpark. Additional tuning is usually needed to correct air-fuel mixtures.
I've had one MC that additional tuning wasn't necessary after installing a jet kit.
Richening the mix will help cool the cylinders, especially rear cylinder. An overly rich mix will affect performance and lower fuel mileage.
