QuestionI just bought an 03' yz250f. It is in need of some work. I was wondering if you could give a range of what to expect, cost wise, on the following: New top end (piston/rings/pin) OEM, new clutch plates and clutch cable (OEM), rebuild rear shock, rebuild forks, adjust valves, clean carb, and regrease swingarm bearings and steering stem bearings.
I am just trying to creat a budget for myself and don't want to get ripped off.
Thanks,

AnswerHi Doug,
It's difficult for me to give you an estimate of repairs. Flat-rates vary from regions.
Shops in the Dayton, Ohio area charge between $50 and $60 per flat-rate hour for service.
Carb: $60
Top end: $300 (includes valve clearance adjustment)
Clutch: $60 (includes new cable install and adjust)
Suspension: $240 (includes swingarm and stem lube)
Shop supplies: $5 [smiling]
I'm guessing with the above figures. Parts and tax excluded.
