Motorcycle Repair: 72 k3 minitrail cable adjustment, mini trail, throttle cable

hi

i have a honda k3 minitrail which i am working on. i just got a new carb for it that's actually for a slightly different model, but fits in every regard except one: the new carb assy doesn't allow for a throttle cable adjustment and my current cable is too long. not enough tension to accelerrate. i was told when i bought the carb that i may need a cable adjustment, but now i'm not sure how to go about this exactly. any tips for a novice restorer would be appreciated.
