Questionhaving bought the bike weeks ago i now have the mechanic saying it needs a new carb and that it will cost more than the bike itself cost, to repair. hen says the tower in one carb is broken and causing a leak which i believe what i find hard to believe is that the replacement will cost 700$ with labour- here in California
is this what i should expect to pay?
please if you could respond to

AnswerHi Michael,
The price estimate is accurate. Shop labor flat-rates in Ohio are just as high at $50+ per hour.
New OEM carburetors can cost well over $1000. Compare prices at Bike Bandit. "www.bikebandit.com"
Try finding used carbs on eBay. Trouble is, don't know the exact condition of parts.
Some carb damages/leaks can be repaired with J.B. Weld, Gorilla Glue and other available products.
