Motorcycle Repair: loss of power, vt500c, honda shadow

i have a 1985 honda shadow vt500c with 10,000 miles.  a few days ago i passed a car going up hill at 60 mph, and about 3 minutes later i lost power.  i was lucky enough to live at the bottom of the hill, because the bike wouldn't go over 20 mph.  ran perfect since i bought it a year ago.  one exhaust feels fine, but the other (front) does not get hot and it alternates between blowing out and sucking in at idle.

Hi Barrett,

The problem may be ignition or fuel related. I cannot tell from the information provided. I would need to perform a few checks to accurately diagnose the problem.

Check the air intake for obstructions. Check fuel level.

I recommend having a local tech check your VT.
