Motorcycle Repair: timing chain, cam chain, timing chain

i have a 1981 yamaha xs special 850 i was wondering if you good tell me how to adjust the timing chain thanks

Hi Andrew,

It's been awhile since I serviced an XS. If memory is correct..... with the engine off, loosen the cam chain tensioner lock-nut and loosen the tensioner bolt just enough for the auto-tensioner to move (about 1/2 turn).

Tighten tensioner bolt and locknut.
