QuestionI have a 1997 Suzuki Bandit 1200. After 3 years of ownership I just learned it has a manual cam chain tensioner. It has never been touched in the 3 years and 3500 miles I have owned the bike (14,000 total miles on bike). I need to know if I need to adjust the tensioner and how to do so. Only possible symptom I notice on the bike is engine knocking at high rpms. Thanks.

AnswerHi Eugene,
Yes, you should be adjusting the tensioner according to the periodic maintenance schedule. However, I would associate engine knock with detonation, connecting rod, piston pin/piston, and transmission related problems.
I recomend the service/repair manual to assist you with repairs and maintaining your GSX-F. The manual will pay for itself with the first work you perform.
