Motorcycle Repair: honda xr100 - stuck in first gear, mc repair, 2000 honda xr100

My sons 2000 honda xr100 is stuck in first gear.  I took it for a ride and it runs fine in first but when you try to shift to 2nd it will only go into neutral.  If the engine is not running, I can shift threw all the gears ok.  The clutch is working ok in first gear.
Could this be something simple or am I in for a big or expensive project?

Hi Matt,

The problem may be shifter linkage or clutch related. I would need to inspect the problem to accurately diagnose the problem.

Any MC repair is expensive. : )
