Motorcycle Repair: linkage, harleytechtalk, shovelhead

I know that HD may not be your speciality, however, any idea what the linkage is suppose to lok like when set up on a 1985 Shovelhead HD - with an open primary.  - not a ratchet top . I have what is referred to as a cow paddy top.
